Hey! Good Lookin', Whatcha Got Cookin'? Menu board
Originally I was going to use a magnetic paint for the dinner part of the board itself, BUT...I had a more creative thot to use a piece of tin. Having no idea where I was going to find such a piece, I kept my eyes open!
My family and I went on a lil get-a-way to Lancaster, PA. I was SO excited when I found what I was looking for at one of the shops in the Kitchen Kettle Village. You can go to the Kitchen Kettle Village here. Have fun!!
The magnets are plastic buttons. I glued magnets to the back of the button,
and scrap-booking sheet letters to the inside. They turned out perfect!!
I wanted to add a chalk board to it, for anything she felt free to use it for...shopping list, favorite scripture verse, etc. You can get the chalk board paint at any craft or hardware store, and a lil of it goes a long way! I found the molding to use for the chalk tray at AcMoore.
A cork board area was a must! Someplace where she could hang all those lil reminders! I found this cork board frame at AcMoore for $1.99 (that was a steal...at least I thot so!) I added a lil paint, and some scrapbook embellishments I found at Wal-Mart (yes, I said Wal-Mart, believe it or not, that's where I got most of my finishing touches!)
The push pins were matching metal brads I found. I broke the brad part off,and glued a push pin to the back.
Last but not least...a few decoupaged small boxes to hold the menu items, pens, pencils, etc. The total cost for materials was $40.00 (not too bad I thot). This is by far my most favorite project yet!
The Art of Cut Paper Towel Tubes
Welcome to my bathroom wall. I was inspired to do an owl theme, when I found this shower curtain...
It is a VERY easy process! First, you flatten your paper towel tubes and/or toilet paper tubes.
Next, using a ruler and pencil, mark off one inch sections on your tubes. Pretty easy so far....right?? =)
Then, cut your paper tubes off in the one inch sections marked. They should stay leaf shaped.
Assemble your pattern...
...and, glue together using a hot glue gun. After you get it all together you can spray paint your design, or leave it just plain. I did a little of both. I did my design in smaller sections, and used sewing pins to hang it onto my wall.
And, there you have it! The beautiful finished product!
